Success Laventille Health Centre opens
Newsday – Sept 09, 2002
By TESSA HORNE

SERVICES will become available at the new refurbished Success Laventille Health Centre from today.

The theme for last Thursday’s opening of the centre “Taking pride in our health care and seeking medical attention right away”, was echoed by Dr. Patrick Watson, Chairman of NWRHA.

A dental unit with quality services will be provided at the centre, with a full-time medical officer available from 8 am – 4 pm daily.

There will be no need for the people in the Success Laventille area and environs to attend medical services at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital with this new centre, it will curb the amount of people who go there for medical attention. This will allow the hospitals to deal with emergency cases mostly.

Businessman and president of DOMA, Gregory Aboud gave his personal greeting to the Ministry of Health on a job well done and mentioned that our health must be taken more seriously.

One week ago, the George Street Health Centre was also opened after a period of two years, being under renovation which took almost the same length of time for the Success Laventille Centre to open as well.

“There are a few other health centres to be built and facelifted over a period of time in the future,” Minister of Health Colm Imbert said, when he formally opened the centre.
