Ministry geared for dengue
Newsday – Sept 13, 2002

The Heath Ministry yesterday announced that it has acquired two new Ultra-low Volume (ULV) machines and 20 dynafoggers for its Insect Vector Control Division’s (IVCD) war on dengue.

There are over 3,000 dengue reports for TT.

Fifty-six small and ten large spray cans were also acquired.

The two new ULV machines arrived in TT earlier this week and will bring the total shipment at the IVCD to five machines and 40 dynafoggers, 200 small and 20 large spray cans. In a media release, the Ministry said this constituted a 100 percent in the purchase of equipment over the last nine months.

Despite this, the Health Ministry reminded the public that in the fight against the Aedes aegypti they must keep their surroundings free from all receptacles and overgrowth which encourage the breeding of mosquitoes.
